CAVINO

cavino miniCAVINO is an SME employing 64 persons.

Qualifications, expertise and know-how:
The winery and distillery CAVINO S.A. is a family company founded by Konstantinos Anastassiou in 1958. At present, the family company is directed by Jannis Anastassiou, the second generation of the Anastassiou family.

The most important export-market of the international operating Wine and Spirits Company is Germany, but CAVINO is also exporting in 16 other export markets as well. The company owns two wineries and one distillery. The ultra-modern main winery in Aigion produces 6,0 million liters of wine annually. The grapes are delivered from more than 100 contact wine growers. The origin of the grape-varieties used by CAVINO for wine-production is not only the Peloponnesus, but also North and Central Greece and the island of Crete. The recently acquired second winery: a monastery winery (10h) in MEGA SPILEO on the northern part of Peloponnesus, near Kalavrita, at a height of about 850m above sea level, contributes significantly to the company's production. Through modern marketing strategies and an extensive market research with focus on Greek wine, the company is developing its own concepts on wine and spirits for various target groups. Since 1997, CAVINO has included in its programs the production of wines through Organic Farming. One wine-range includes the specialties Retsina, Imiglikos, Mavrodaphne and Samos and also the Greek autochthonous wine varieties: Nemea Agiorgitiko, Naoussa Xinamavro, Moschofilero Mantinia and Roditis Patras. Syrah, Merlot and the flagship of the company, the Domain Grande Cave a Cabernet Franc with Mavrodaphne, complete magnificently the image of an ideal assortment. The distillery owns the traditional brands OUZO ROMIOS, OUZO 10 and the Greek Spirit Specialty SYMPOSIO.

Scientific Team:
S. Tsiris, chief Enologist, will be responsible for the implementation of the activities of the project.
